Hello!

250 performances of "Fables à la fontaine" in the 2003/2004 season is quite something!

The Petite Fabrique team is living an extraordinary adventure, literally.

An adventure consisting of travel, meeting large and appreciative audiences who are enchanted by the playful and inventive writing they experience. Enchanted too by the generosity of the performers, who give of their best at each show.

Of course, we've had to redistribute some of the roles (imagine a dancer performing the same part for three consecutive seasons, 150 times…think of the wear and tear!); of course, we've sometimes been overstretched and not as effective as we might have liked. But rigour and sincerity have driven us on.

We thank the DRAC Ile de France, whose help in producing the shows has allowed us to put such difficulties behind us as mere bad memories.

We'll be continuing to tour the fables next season, then, and for those of you who haven't seen them yet, I'd like to draw your attention to our forthcoming appearances in Paris :

  • at the Auditorium du Louvre, April 21st with "The Grasshopper and the Ant" by H.Diephuis and "The Tortoise and the Hare" by C. Garcia.

  • at the Théâtre National de Chaillot from 28th April to 7th May with this season's
première, "The Lamb and the Wolf" by B.Massin, accompanied by the fables "The Town Rat and the Country Rat" by D.Rebaud and "The Crow and the Fox" by D.Hervieu.

  • at the Théâtre 71 in Malakoff on May 5th and 6th with "The Grasshopper and the Ant", "The Lion and the Rat" by D.Boivin and "The Oak and the Reed" by M.Merzouki.
To remind us, we have kept a record of the season's high points in a travel journal.

Finally, in 2004/2005 we'll be giving choreographers from abroad the chance to take part in the adventure, as a way of showing our willingness to push back the frontiers, real and
    imaginary.

Looking forward to meeting you,

Annie Sellem and the Petite Fabrique team

Premières :

Three new plays commissioned from foreign choreographers, each following the same rules of the game : share the stage with short plays intended for all the family, freely inspired by the beloved fables of Jean de la Fontaine.
Africa will be represented by the South African choreographer Boyzie Cekwana. From Brazil we will have a version written by Lia Rodriguez, formerly a dancer with Maguy Marin, having created a role in May Be. The third fable will come from America, Danièle Desnoyers from Quebec has answered the call… watch this space..!

You can bet that the creatures conjured forth from the minds of these artists will surprise
us with their exotic and picturesque colours. These creators constantly stand out by their wonderful energy and their ability to situate themselves in a sincere and committed manner in environments that can be both charming but at times distressing.

To date, the following venues will stage the project : La Maison de la Danse in Lyon, the CCN in Rillieux-la-Pape, the Toboggan in Décines, the Groupe des Vingt (Rhône-Alpes) for the production, La Scène Nationale d'Aubusson, the CCN in Lorraine, the Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis and…
